Description of the CombiFeeder

Function

The CombiFeeder with two troughs is a mineral feeder for free-choice supplementation during grazing. The cover, which the animals lift with their heads when they eat from it, protects the mineral feed from rain and dung. It can be used for e.g. cattle and sheep, including heavy beef cattle with horns.

The feeder is built around a wooden post that has several functions. The post stabilizes the feeder and, in conjunction with other design details, makes it virtually impossible for the animals to tip the feeder around so that the contents are spilled. If there is a need for it, for example if the feeder is to be placed on very sloping ground, holes can be drilled at each end of the post and earth spikes placed to anchor the feeder. The post also functions as a sled, so that you can easily move the feeder to another grazing area by pulling it by a rope or similar that is fixed in the hole at one end of the post.

The troughs are specially designed to provide good support for / fixation of round and square buckets with molasses minerals or other feed supplements, and they can of course also be used for other feed and feed supplements, such as dry and loose mineral feeds, roughage, etc.

When designing the mineral feeder, climate and environment were taken into account. It is delivered in six parts to be transported as compactly as possible. Delivery takes place in reusable hessian bags, and the assembly kits are also delivered in a small hessian bag.

The CombiFeeder is a versatile feed trough that can also be configured and used in different ways.

The troughs can be used outdoors, for example as feed troughs for horses or other animals. Due to the design, they stand firmly on the field. The troughs can also be used indoors, where they can be hung on a wall in the box or stable in the 4 points prepared for this.

For outdoor use, it is possible to use a version with a cover and suspension, so that the troughs can be placed on, for example, a fence gate.

The troughs are provided with "handles" to facilitate their handling.

Technichal details

Dimensions

Each trough is 35 cm high, 49 cm long and 38 cm wide.

A CombiFeeder with 2 troughs is 150 cm long, 39 cm high and 77 cm wide when assembled.

Volume

Each trough has a total volume of 45 litres, of which 35 liters in the case of liquid content.

Weight

Each trough weighs 3.5 kg.

A mineral feeder with 2 troughs weighs a total of 31 kg.

Materials

The troughs themselves and the small protective plate are made of recyclable PEHD plastic.

The plast material is UV protected against weathering and bleaching by the sun.

The plastic used for the troughs is non-toxic and suited for the purpose in accordance with the EU's rules for food hygiene.

The wood post is pressure impregnated and intended for ground contact.

The cover is made of rubber, which is reinforced with inserts of nylon netting for increased durability.

Bolts, nuts and washers are made of stainless steel in A2 quality, which means that it does not rust when used outdoors.

Frost durability

The CombiFeeder is frost durable so it is possible to let it stay outside during the winter.

Charolais
The flock gathers in the early September morning sun around the CombiFeeder.
Productivity requires minerals
4-5% of an animal is minerals, and you cannot count on the content in grass being sufficient for highly productive animals.
Satisfied farmer
Anders Larsson uses CombiFeeder for distributing granulated minerals to grazing heifers and dry cows. He believes the feeder works very well and is also easy to handle.
Mounted with board
In some cases, the animals may have a habit of pressing the rubber cover down into the trough - this can easily be prevented by fitting a board - you can also place a bucket in the trough.
Rubber cover
The rubber cover protects the mineral feeds from being destroyed by rain and dirt.
Practical for feeding in the paddock
Use the CombiFeeder trough to feed your horses in the paddock - the trough has practical handles that make it easy to handle.
Durable and UV-protected plastic
The CombiFeeder is made of strong plastic, which is UV protected so that it does not fade and soften in the sun.
As a wall-mounted trough in a horse stall
The CombiFeeder is designed to function as a trough in, for example, a horse box, where it is eminently suitable for roughage such as silage or other.
Good for heavy cattle breeds
The CombiFeeder is particularly suitable for heavy beef cattle
Wooden sled
The sled makes it easy to pull the feeder to another grazing paddock
The sled can be anchored
Should it be necessary, the sled can be easily anchored to the ground
Rectangular troughs
The feeder can also be used for round and square buckets with molasses minerals
Supplied in hessian sack
The feeder is supplied in a reusable hessian sack
Assembly kit in jute bag
Assembly kit comes in a small hessian bag
Large volume
Each trough has a volume of 45 litres
Practical handles
The handles in the troughs make the feeder easy to handle
Easy to assemble
In order to minimize the volume during transport, and thus costs and CO2 emissions, the CombiFeeder is supplied as an asembly set.
Combination possibilities
The CombiFeeder troughs can be configured in different ways, for example as a single covered trough for suspension on a fence gate.
Mineral supplementation during grazing is necessary
The content of minerals in grass is low and unpredictable, and with the CombiFeeder you can use both granulated minerals, round and square mineral buckets and lick stones.

CombiFeeder mineral feeder is here seen used by a herd of Charolais. CombiFeeder is especially suited for large cattle breeds, also with horns, and it can also be used by other types of livestock, including sheep. CombiFeeder has 2 compartments and can be used for giving both granulated (loose, dry mixtures of mineral salts) mineral feeds as wells as for round or squared buckets with molasses minerals, which stands solid and protected in the feeder. CombiFeeder is easy to move by dragging to another paddock.

CombiFeeder troughs are ideals for feeding horses in the paddock and for use as feed troughs inside the horse stable, easily fixed to the wall with 4 screws.
